What we collect

Account details you provide when you sign up (name, email), or, if you use Sign in with Google, the name, email, and profile photo Google shares with us. Phone number and mailing address, when you submit them through a portfolio check or the contact form. The property addresses you search, save, or track, and search activity (address searched, timestamp, referring page). We do not require an account to search a single address.

How we use it

To track the compliance status of properties you've saved, send deadline reminder emails (which you can turn on or off per property in Settings), send regulatory update notifications, and send marketing emails (which you can opt out of anytime in Settings). To follow up on portfolio submissions and missing-property reports, and to improve match accuracy between submitted addresses and public records. Search activity that doesn't convert to a saved property may still be reviewed internally to identify prospective clients. We also run small on-site experiments (for example, testing different page copy) using a first-party session identifier, described under Cookies below. This is never shared with advertisers.

Public record data

Property compliance status shown on this site is sourced from the City of Cleveland's public open data. It is not private information about you, and it exists independent of this site. Per-address result pages are not indexed by search engines.

Documents you upload

Documents you upload (for example, proof of a completed inspection) are stored in a private file bucket. They are accessible only to members of your account and to RentPup staff for support purposes, never publicly accessible or indexed.

Cookies

We use first-party cookies to keep you signed in, to hold a short-lived session identifier that keeps results consistent if you're part of an on-site experiment, to remember the email you entered if you started a portfolio submission, and to remember interface choices such as your dashboard theme, which activity you've already seen, and properties you've already looked at.

We also use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. It sets its own cookies, named beginning with _ga, and reports aggregate traffic to us. We do not run advertising or retargeting pixels.

Third parties

We use Supabase (database, file storage, and authentication), Resend (email delivery), Stripe (payment processing for paid plans; RentPup never sees or stores your full card number), Google Analytics (site usage measurement), and Sentry (error monitoring, which records the technical details of an error; its session replay feature, which would record what you type, is switched off). If you choose Sign in with Google, Google is involved as your identity provider. We share only what each vendor needs to provide its part of the service, and each handles it under their own privacy and security terms.

Google Calendar access

If a RentPup staff member connects a Google Calendar so visitors can book a meeting, we request only two permissions, and only for that connected account. We read free/busy availability, which returns the times an account is busy without any event titles, descriptions, attendees, or other contents, and we use it solely to avoid offering a meeting time that conflicts with something already scheduled. We create and delete calendar events for meetings booked through RentPup, so that a confirmed booking appears on the calendar and a cancelled one is removed.

We deliberately do not request permission to read calendar contents. We store only the access and refresh tokens needed to keep the connection working, the address of the connected account, and the identifier and video link of events we created ourselves. We do not store, copy, or index any other calendar data, and free/busy results are used at the moment of the request and never retained. Disconnecting or revoking access at your Google account permissions page stops all of it immediately.

RentPup's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell this data, do not use it for advertising, and do not use it to train generalized artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models.

Your choices

You can change which properties send deadline reminders, and turn marketing emails on or off, anytime from Settings. If you'd rather not be counted in our site analytics, Google publishes a browser opt-out add-on, and blocking third-party analytics in your browser or an extension has the same effect. Nothing about the service depends on it. To request deletion of your account and its data, use the Danger Zone section in Settings, or contact us directly. Requesting deletion schedules your account for removal after a 7-day grace period, during which you can cancel the request; after that, your account and its data are deleted, except where we're required to retain records (for example, billing records) for legal or tax purposes.
