Checking a single Cleveland rental's compliance status used to mean digging through three different city systems by hand, so we built the tool we wished already existed.

I'm a homeowner in greater Cleveland with a background in marketing, eCommerce, and software development. RentPup started by accident: I was looking at rental properties around the city and stumbled into Cleveland's compliance requirements for the first time. Rental registration, lead certification, agent designations, all of it confusing, all of it changing regularly, and all of it scattered across systems that clearly weren't built to be checked by an actual owner. Nobody designed it to be navigable, and nobody's incentivized to fix it: the fines collect either way.
Then I dug into what happens when you miss one, and found the part nobody warns you about: the fees. A missed deadline here isn't a slap on the wrist, it can turn into tickets that grow by the day. It seemed wrong that the only way to stay ahead of all this was to already know it existed.
So I built the tool I wished I'd found that day: one place that watches every record the City and County keep on your property and tells you the moment anything changes. No legal jargon, no guessing, and a real person behind it.
